Welsh Roofing Slates

We are happy to announce that we are now stocking Capital grade Welsh roofing slates in our yard.

The slates are sourced locally from Ffestiniog quarry, North Wales.

Welsh slate is recognised globally as the best roofing slate in the world creating a roof that will last a lifetime, it is non porous which makes it resistant to water absorption and damage from the elements making it perfect for the unpredictable British weather.

Slate from Wales has a long history dating back to Roman times, but during the Industrial Revolution new mining techniques and railway transportation spurred a growing demand for roofing materials creating a massive growth in the industry. By the late 19th century Welsh slate was being shipped worldwide.

Welsh slate roofing tiles are still made by hand by skilful quarrymen using techniques that have been passed down through generations.
